“The [youths] are probably influenced by gubernatorial debates and forums,” he said.
Associated Students of Northern Marianas College president Miles Rodriguez said many young voters are still undecided — and conducting a forum will give them an opportunity to learn more about the candidates running for governor.
“The forum can help them decide who to vote for,” she said.
NMC’s Student Council held a gubernatorial forum yesterday.
According to Rodriguez, NMC students want to hear the candidates speak about educational, social, political, and economic issues.
Reyes said Fitial is comfortable answering questions regarding the issues, including federalization, because he has accomplishments in each of those areas.
He noted that Fitial helped ensure that the CNMI get $28 million in federal education stabilization funds.
Under the Fitial administration, Reyes added, the blackouts ended, the power plant engines were rehabilitated, there are new gaming and tourism investments for Rota, and the local tourism industry will have continued access to Chinese and Russian visitors.
