The doctor in charge of the Public Health Division, Malakai ‘Ake, said one of the women had arrived from Brisbane, Australia and lives in Ngele’ia, a suburb of Nuku’alofa, while the other is a local resident.
‘Ake told Radio & TV Tonga News that one of the women was suspected when she consulted doctors at Vaiola Hospital with normal flu symptoms mainly coughing and runny nose.
He said it is believed the person who arrived from Australia had left the country. Further details on the confirmed cases are yet to be made available.
