The other day, the governor announced that his office has hired the services of U.S.-based lawyers to review a draft complaint regarding the federalization of local immigration law.
Torres, R-Saipan, said he will soon release his official statement on the House floor.
He said he “is supporting the governor’s move to bring the federal government to court.”
Sen. Luis P. Crisostimo, D-Saipan and vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Relations and Independent Agencies, has also expressed his support for the lawsuit.
The governor has valid concerns and claims, and has the right to sue the federal government, Crisostimo said.
