Trash bins stolen, illegal dumping continues

Aguon last week collected the broken trash bins in public areas on Saipan and replaced them with the used 55-gallon drums donated by USNS Sodeman.

He said, as he was doing his most recent trash collection routine from Koblerville, Sugar Dock to Tanapag Beach, he noticed that two of the trash bins were gone.

Aguon said he also saw an old TV dumped near the beach in Tanapag.

Aguon at the same time expressed appreciation to another community volunteer, Gus Takres, for helping him collect trash in the Sugar Dock and Aquarius beach areas.

Over the weekend, Aguon said, he collected a total of 1,520 lbs. of trash.

Aguon said he learned that some people would park their vehicles near a pavilion early in the morning, and then dump their household trash in the area.
