Saipan Marianas Lions Club president Ladyvir Canape said her colleague Alma Hilaria discovered the trash on Thursday morning.
“We immediately went there and removed the trash,” she said. “It took us 30 minutes to clean the bus shelter and its surroundings.”

Canape believes that certain individuals are using the bus shelter for their “drinking sessions.”
She is hoping that they will show some respect for facilities that children use.
Graffiti was also scrawled on the bus shelter bench, she added.
The club has adopted the bus shelter for regular maintenance, but Canape is also hoping that the Department of Public Safety will check the bus shelter when it patrols the area.
