THE Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc. will host a fundraising Trivia Night on Saturday, Sept. 30, NMPASI Executive Director Greg Borja said.
The venue is the Crowne Plaza Resort, and the event will start at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.
Tickets cost $50 and come with dinner buffet. There will also be raffle door prizes.
“Our Trivia Night is intended to be an outreach event that informs the community about issues surrounding people with disabilities in a fun way,” Borja said, adding that the funds raised will support operations and administrative costs of the non-profit organization.
Borja said Trivia Night will consist of five rounds of 10 trivia questions. People can join teams at the event. He said the categories will be history, disability laws, entertainment, sports, and the year “1993,” which was when NMPASI was established.
During the contest, teams will be given an answer sheet where they will write their responses to questions. The sheets will be collected before the round moves on, and team standings will be updated based on the cumulative correct answers.
According to NMPASI’s website, the organization exists to “provide legally based advocacy services on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their families in the CNMI.”
“Historically, people with disabilities have been subject to abuse and neglect,” Borja said. “The clients we work with come from all walks of life. They may have physical or mental disabilities and range in age from birth to manamko’.”
