Education Minister Mathew Wale said this to dispel earlier media reports that the Nobel peace laureate is not going to Solomon Islands.
Wale said the government received an acceptance letter from Dan Vaughan, Tutu’s assistant last week.
The government wants Tutu to help in establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This commission would inquire into the causes of the recent ethnic tension.
Tutu was instrumental in setting up South Africa’s own Truth and Reconciliation Commission programs following the apartheid era.
Wale said Tutu has proposed April 29-30 next year as possible dates for his coming.
The acceptance letter came after the government invited Tutu.
