UFO to go all out on Liberation Day

UFO president Olive Yana told Variety all their 32 member associations have already committed to join their float for the parade.

The Filipino community, she added, is always happy to give back to the CNMI community.

Olive said after the Pistang Pinoy celebration UFO officers met and agreed to join this year’s Liberation Day float and parade competition.

“All the officers coming from different organizations have agreed to gather as many members as we can to join us on the 4th of July,” she told Variety.

Initially, the UFO agreed to print out t-shirts for all the participants of the parade to encourage more members of the Filipino community to join the festivities.

The UFO  has yet to finalize the other details of its participation, Yana said.

On Friday, she added, they will start preparing the design, decoration and plan for the float.

Liberation Day committee on float and parade headed by Felipe Atalig disclosed that there are already five organizations that have confirmed their participation in the float contest.

Atalig said the committee will receive entries from other organization until June 24.

This year’s prizes for the float competition: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $300 for third.
