US-affiliated island judges to meet in Majuro

MAJURO — Chief judges from all of Micronesia as well as from American Samoa will meet in the Marshall Islands this week.

Marshall Islands Chief Justice Allen Fields, High Court Chief Justice Charles Henry and Traditional Rights Court Chief Justice Riley Albertter will be hosting the annual meeting of the executive session of the Pacific Judicial Conference here tomorrow.

This year, for the first time, a judge from Kiribati will be visiting the executive session meeting as a guest observer. Judges from Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Northern Marianas and American Samoa will join their Marshall Islands colleagues for the one day meeting.

The Pacific Judicial Conference is the professional and educational organization for all of the judges from the U.S.-affiliated islands in the Pacific.

The full conference meets annually to exchange information on the administration of justice in these countries and territories, and to participate in continuing judicial education for the members.

The executive session in Majuro will be planning the 2002 meeting for the full conference.
