
THE CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is announcing that the U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam is conducting a full-scale exercise, “Lina’la Halom Tasi” on Saipan from June 25 to 27, 2024. This is a simulated oil spill exercise, no fuel or oil will be spilled in the ocean. The full-scale exercise will occur at the Emergency Operations Center and the Tanapag Harbor.
The U.S. Coast Guard will conduct a personnel training exercise at the Emergency Operations Center on June 25, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Equipment drills will be conducted at the Tanapag Harbor on June 26, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exercise and after-action review will be conducted at the Emergency Operations Center on June 27, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Exercise objectives
• Demonstrate and test the ability of the responsible party and responding organizations.
• Demonstrate the ability to dispose of recovered material and contaminated debris.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish effective communications systems for the response, including internal, intra-organizational, and external communications.
Lina’la Halom Tasi Exercise 2024 will see participation from a variety of agencies and organizations including:
• CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management
• U.S. Coast Guard
• National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
• Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services
• Department of Public Safety
• Commonwealth Ports Authority
• Division of Fish and Wildlife
• Department of Public Works
• Public School System
• Isla Petroleum and Energy
Residents and visitors may observe an increased presence of Coast Guard personnel and equipment in the Tanapag Harbor area. The CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management encourage the public to remain aware of exercise activities and follow any instructions from local authorities.
