The CNMI joins the rest of the nation in paying tribute to the service and sacrifice of the men and women who, in defense of our freedom, have bravely worn the uniform of the nation’s military.
Last Thursday, Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos signed a proclamation declaring Nov. 1-7, 2011 as Veterans Awareness Week.
The proclamation states that the country “is forever indebted to our veterans for their courage and exemplary service.”
“We also remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom’s defense. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. On Veterans Day, we remember these heroes for their valor, their loyalty, and their dedication. Their selfless sacrifices continue to inspire us today as we work to advance peace and extend freedom around the world,” the proclamation added.
This week, the citizens are urged to remember that many of the veterans bear the disabilities and scars of military service.
On Nov. 11, Veterans Day will be celebrated at American Memorial Park’s Court of Honor starting at 11 a.m.
Capt. John Russ, commodore for Sub-marine Squadron 15, Joint Region Marianas, will be the keynote speaker.
