Villagomez meets Rota health officials to resolve nursing crisis

On Tuesday, the 10 nurses hired through the Saipan Employment  Agency & Services got two pay checks based on their regular rate, in addition to the two pay checks at $4.55 per hour they received from the mayor’s office on Monday.

Ayuyu said he still has to discuss the matter with Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola. He did not elaborate.

It was not known yet if the center allowed the 10 nurses and laboratory technician to return back to work.

They have stopped working since July 7 because of the absence of a contract.

Variety was told that the government was considering directly hiring the SEAS nurses if funds are available.

SEAS president Jimmy Cruz could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Reggie Quiming, RHC nursing department head, said if  management fails to bring in more nurses within this week she may go on leave for one day for health reasons.

At present, she said only three of them and six nursing assistants are working on three shifts.

“The operation at RHC is smooth as we only have out-patients,” she said.
