Villagomez returns to Public Health

His office yesterday said Villagomez re-assumed his duties three weeks ago.

He went on a medical leave in May.

Public Health at the same time advised  CNMI residents who are pregnant, healthcare and emergency service workers and children  two to five years old  to get their 2009 H1N1 vaccine shots or nasal spray from public and private clinics starting today.

“Today (Nov. 3) is the first day of administering the 2009 H1N1 vaccines and we are encouraging those who fall under the mentioned priority groups to get vaccinated for protection against the swine flu virus,” acting Deputy Secretary for Public Health Administration John Tagabuel yesterday said.

An initial 2,400 vaccines are available for administration beginning today. 900 of the vaccines are shots and the other 1,500 are nasal sprays.

The rest of the community who do not belong to the first priority group may expect to get their H1N1 flu vaccine shots by December.

Pregnant women who haven’t visited a doctor for prenatal checkup must do so for consultation before they will be given the H1N1 flu vaccine shot.
