THE CNMI Women’s Association and the Women’s Affairs Office are grateful for the Legislature’s support of the 10th Annual CNMI Women’s Summit, CNMI Women’s Association board president Dorsha Moreno said on Friday, Aug. 30.

The women’s summit took place on May 17, with the theme “Nurturing the Whole Woman: Mind, Body, and Spirit.”

Moreno said the goal of the summit was to educate the community.  Presentations centered on physical strength and growth; breast cancer; spiritual counseling; local medicine; domestic violence; and more.

On Friday, WAO officials and CWA members were in the House chamber to receive framed copies of a House resolution “congratulating and honoring all women in the Commonwealth” for their “contributions and achievements….”

Moreno, in her remarks, said government and community partnerships result in “creating meaningful change.”

“Government involvement in championing women’s interest is vital,” Moreno said “It ensures that our voices are heard and our concerns are addressed at the highest levels. Your collective support sends a powerful message that the women of our community are valued and that their contributions are indispensable to the progress of our society. When our government leaders and offices like yours stands with the community and advocates for equality opportunity and empowerment, we all benefit.”

Saipan Mayor RB Camacho invited the Women’s Affairs Office and CNMI Women’s Association to collaborate with his office in the implementation of community projects that aim to create a “safe island, a clean community, and a safe village.”

“I want to link up with these women’s associations for the betterment of the community so we can all drive forward to execute this plan of action developed by the mayor for this municipality,” he said.
