Warehouse burglar gets 40-day jail term

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo also placed Kevin Mendoza Piol on five years probation following his release from the Department of Corrections on Dec. 7, 2008.

Piol appeared in court on Oct. 23 with Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke while Assistant Attorney General Kevin Lynch represented the government.

Piol entered a guilty plea to the offense of burglary. The commonwealth agreed to dismiss the remaining offenses with prejudice, provided the defendant complies with the conditions set by the court.

Piol broke into JP Builders in Gualo Rai on Feb. 22, 2008.

He stole 22 indoor air-conditioning units, one box of 25-ft. 5/8 copper tube, one box of 25-ft. 3/8 copper tube, a 60-lb. acetylene tank, a 30-lb. oxygen tank and a red pressure washer.

The defendant and a companion later tried to sell a pressure washer for $40 to one of JP Builders’ employees, who told the police about it.
