Water rationing lifted

KOROR (Palau Horizon) — Koror will again have water at daytime, the Ministry of Resources and Development said.

Minister Fritz Koshiba said all households in Koror will have water from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., but water supply will still be shut off from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. everyday.

He said water rationing will be partially lifted after water tanks were filled up to allow Koror to have enough water.

However, he said the public should continue to conserve water and find containers to store water.

He said until further notice, Koror will have water during daytime.

Koshiba at the same time noted the positive support of the public for the government’s water conservation campaign.

Koshiba added that Palau was also “lucky” due to the heavy rains recently experienced by the country.

The water rationing was implemented to prepare Palau for the El Niño phenomenon.

The Bureau of Public Works is continuing to repair leaks and broken pipelines as a way to conserve water, Koshiba said.

He urged the public to report any leaks to the bureau so repairs could be made immediately.
