CCA program manager Tina Sablan yesterday said celebrity bagging is scheduled at Joeten Susupe from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and at 99 Cents Supermarket in Garapan from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Sablan said volunteers will put pamphlets and brochures related to breast cancer awareness into the shopping bags of customers at the checkout counters, and distribute the same materials to people who come in or out of the stores.
“Celebrity bagging is one of the best ways of getting in touch with people and reaching out to them to tell them of what services are available on island,” Sablan said.
Another celebrity bagging is scheduled at the Super Fresh Market in Chalan Kanoa on Oct. 21.
On Sunday, Oct. 10, CCA is inviting the community to support “Pinktober,” a fundraising mini-concert at the Hard Rock Café Saipan in Garapan.
“This is the first time that we are partnering with the Hard Rock Café and we are excited to be working with them to raise funds for our programs,” she said.
Hard Rock Café operations manager Rey Perez said live entertainment will be provided by local musicians Jerry Alacantara, Leila Steffler, Pats & Dhen, Larra Ramos, Black Sands, The SAI, MC Riyoko and Burning Bush.
Perez said part of the proceeds from the mini-concert will benefit breast cancer research organizations and CCA.
He said CCA members will also conduct presentations to promote breast cancer awareness during the event.
Available on Sunday are “Pink Drinks” especially concocted for the event: Pink Promise, Pink Ribbon, Berry Blush Martini and Wildberry Smoothie.
Proceeds from the sale of special limited-edition 2011 Hard Rock Pinktober merchandise will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
These include 75 percent of the retail price for each pin sold and 15 percent of the retail price of each t-shirt and key chain sold.
Sponsors for the Pinktober mini-concert are Pepsi, DFS-Galleria, IT&E, National Rent a Car and Konflict.
The mini-concert will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, inclusive of one drink, and are available at Hard RockvCafé.
