Where is CUC contractor’s status report on engine repairs?

Citing the recent admission of CUC Executive Director Antonio S. Muna about the delay in the repairs of the engines at Power Plant 1, Rep. Francisco S. Dela Cruz, Covenant-Saipan, believes the official “hasn’t been apprised of the progress or the status” of the engine repairs being done by DCM Group Inc.

DCM was hired by CUC to overhaul seven of its eight engines at the power plant for $5,006,470.80.

“From what I gather so far DCM has not been providing status reports, or progressive reports on what they’re doing to CUC,” Dela Cruz stated.

He believes that the situation has posed a problem to Muna who had apologized to the public for the frequent power outages due to the delay in the power plant rehabilitation program.

On May 7, Muna told the Saipan Chamber of Commerce that “come June [the days of load shedding] will be something that we can put behind us.”

Dela Cruz said that he will speak with the chairman of the House PUTC, Rep. Victor B. Hocog, Ind.-Rota, to ask him to call DCM so it can explain its side of the issue.

DCM is a Guam-based firm that is in the business of engineering design services, construction management, import/export of general merchandise and other services.
