Woman assaulted by her boyfriend

Police were looking for the 38-year-old suspect after his name and license plate were provided to investigators.

Officer John Cabrera responded to a disturbance incident at about 2:06 a.m., at an apartment behind Dollar Days Store in Garapan.  

Upon arrival, the officer saw the victim with  blood coming from the top and side of her head.  

The victim told police her boyfriend assaulted her with a blunt object and twice with a glass bowl, which shattered on her head.

The head injuries of the victim, who was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room, required several stitches.

Police said the victim was sleeping when she was awakened by her boyfriend who was knocking on her front door.  

She opened the door and let him in.  

As he was assaulting her, she escaped through her front door, alerting her neighbors by knocking on their doors and screaming for help, police said.   

One of the neighbors called the police, but the suspect had already fled when the responding officer arrived.
