At about 4:30 p.m. yesterday, after two days of trial, the jury handed their guilty verdict on the case of Geraldine Marie Sanchez for sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, and sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
The jury acquitted Sanchez of sexual abuse of a minor in the fourth degree.
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman scheduled Sanchez’s sentencing for Sept. 22.
The court retained all conditions in effect for Sanchez’s bail.
The complaint said Sanchez had sex with a 15-year-old male between August and the first week of Sept. 2009, prior to his 16th birthday.
“I will sit down with Ms. Sanchez to discuss our options,” said her counsel, Assistant Public Defender Michael Brown.
“We are gratified that the jury supported our position. Justice is served,” said Assistant Attorney General Brian D. Gallagher who prosecuted the case.
