Xiao Feng Li, a.k.a. Lili, a resident of Tinian, yesterday changed her plea to “guilty” before U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson.
Li’s counsel was F. Matthew Smith while the federal government was represented by U.S. Assistant Attorney Eric O’Malley.
The federal court accepted Li’s guilty plea to the charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
The prosecution told the court that it would be able to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt if the case proceeded to trial.
Munson ordered the submission of a pre-sentence investigation report by Oct. 21 and set the sentencing hearing for Nov. 25 at 9 a.m.
The court earlier set a jury trial for Li on Aug. 25. She entered a not guilty plea to the charges on June 21.
On June 18, the federal court issued a warrant of arrest for Li at the Department of Corrections facility where she was detained to answer the charges against her.
According to the indictment, Li possessed and distributed 0.76 net grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice on April 12.
