Women’s meeting to highlight health, legal issues on Saturday

Empty Vessel Ministry program director Rose Smith said that women of all ages from all races who are interested are welcome to join the meeting from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.

“Women can ask all questions and concerns they have from the medical experts that we have invited for the meeting,” Smith said.

The expected guests for the meeting are medical doctors from the Commonwealth Health Center — Dr. Jeanolivia Grant and Dr. Jennifer Linden, both obstetricians/gynecologists, and Dr. Esther Kanayjorn and Becky O’Neill, both in internal medicine.

Smith said the Empty Vessel appreciates the effort of these medical specialists who will be coming out on Saturday.

Smith added that attorney Shell Neal who is an EVM volunteer will also be attending the meeting and will help women with question about legal issues that some are facing, especially with the new rules and changes on immigration.

“The Empty Vessel Ministry is dedicated in supporting and empowering women through monthly meetings. Women face different issues and the meeting on Saturday can help educate women about women health and medical issues that not many can have an opportunity to avail of,” Smith said.

She said  before the presentation, Empty Vessel Ministry will be offering free screening of sugar levels and blood pressure, a program which has benefited many women in past.

“This is important to help women to be aware about their health condition through this outreach,” Smith said.

The health screening will start at 8:50 a.m. up to 9:15 a.m.

Smith said they hope for a good turnout of women participants on Saturday.

“This is a chance for women to ask any question about various medical conditions and health issues without having to go for a consultation and checkup, and for free,” Smith said.
