Welcoming remarks by state leaders and other speakers emphasized the theme of “Preserving Traditional Technologies” and the achievements of Mau Piailug and other great master navigators of the past.
A traditional chant was recited as the traditional sailing canoes paraded into the Weneday Channel as tribute to those great navigators for sharing their techniques and skills.
