The shutdown was necessary for the Yap State Public Service Corp. power distribution crew and Hafler to fix an electrical problem which led to a temporary shutdown earlier during the week.
The power distribution crew identified the problem as corrosion to the terminals of the power meter and Hafler was prompt to rectify the issue and put back the station back on island power right around 3 p.m. after he began the repair work at 12 noon.
