She also expressed her disappointment over the loss of commitment on the part of some youth senators during their second session in the House chamber on Saturday.
Leon Guerrero said she was recently preoccupied by personal things involving a death in the family.
“But I am also saddened by the loss of commitment [of some youth senators],” she announced at the session.
She said she wants to see the Youth Congress move forward and noted that the other youth senators should continue with their responsibilities even if she’s not around.
She said the youth senators must reaffirm their responsibilities and goals for the year.
She vowed to keep herself and her colleagues busy.
Leon Guerrero is serving her second term as Youth Congress speaker.
The anti-smoking law, which she considers one of the greatest achievements of the 11th Youth Congress, was enacted during her first term.
On Saturday, the youth senators introduced two bills: one will restrict the use of wireless telephones while driving vehicles, while the other requires all public schools to promote recycling.
Bills passed by the Youth Congress are submitted to the CNMI Legislature for its consideration.
