Zoning Board Chairman Henry S. Hofschneider said the proposal to reclassify the two as village commercial areas was submitted by Zoning Administrator Victor Barrett.
The board approved the publication of a notice regarding the public hearing on the rezoning proposal.
The notice was published and was followed by a public hearing.
The area being requested for rezoning is located east of the traffic light intersection in As Perdido,
In As Terlaje, the area is located just south of Northern Marianas College’s south open field.
According to Barrett, “There was one person who showed up for the As Terlaje public hearing and spoke in favor it. In As Perdido, we had one applicant that came in and said they wanted to start up a business there. And again one person showed up in the public hearing and was in favor of the proposal. It still has to go to the Legislature after we make the recommendation to change the zoning path,” said Barrett.
The Zoning Board will announce its decision when it meets tonight at 6 p.m.
