The move came after former Gov. Juan N. Babauta, among other residents, raised safety concerns about the proposed solar farm that Solar System Corp. is building north of the Marpi baseball field and Wing Beach.
Zoning officials said they want to afford the public the opportunity to be heard about this new project before the request is approved on the property which is zoned as “rural” area.
The public hearing will be held on May 23 at 6 p.m. at Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School.
Board Chairman Diego Blanco said the information about the solar project’s request can be obtained at their office on the second floor of Joeten Dandan Building.

Efrain F. Camacho, project engineer and owner of EFC Engineers & Architects Inc., earlier told the Variety they were asking the Zoning Office to reduce the required 50-ft. setbacks from the front side and rear property lines around the private property they were leasing for the solar farm so more panels could be built on the ground.
He said the firm will fence the entire 5,000 square meters of solar farm land and safety is paramount.
The solar panels are worth $1 million.
The firm is hoping to generate as much as 400,000 kilowatts of energy from the sun and then sell it to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
With fuel prices soaring, Camacho said their project could provide residents cheap electricity.
