HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A 23-year-old man was accused of sending nude photos to a 14-year-old special-needs student.
John Peter Mendiola was charged in the Superior Court of Guam with indecent electronic display to a child as a third-degree felony.
On Jan. 4, police officers responded to a criminal sexual conduct complaint reported at the Dededo Precinct, where they met with the parents of a 14-year-old male minor.
The parents indicated the minor is a middle school special education student who they saw come home from school with a teddy bear and money, which made the parents suspicious, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed with the court.
The minor then told his parents he became friends with Mendiola. The parents made a search of the minor’s laptop and cellphone, the complaint stated, and they found Mendiola had sent “pornography” to their son, which included photos, videos and voice recordings.
The minor further told police Mendiola sent a nude photo and also a video of Mendiola masturbating and ejaculating. The time stamp on the video was Sept. 6, 2023, according to the complaint.
Mendiola, when speaking to police, allegedly admitted to sending the photo and video.
“The Defendant admitted that he told (minor) that he loves him. The Defendant admitted asking (minor) to meet him at one of the gates of his middle school, but (minor) did not meet him. The Defendant admitted giving (minor) a teddy bear and money through (minor’s) school bus window,” the complaint stated.
