Man accused in sexual assaults of 2 teens when they were 7, 9

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — William Robert Reyes has been charged in connection with sexually assaulting two teens when they were seven and nine years old.

Reyes, 64, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony with a special allegation of a vulnerable victim and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct as first-degree felonies.

According to the magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam on Monday, Reyes was first reported to the Guam Police Department on Dec. 10, 2022. Officers met with a 19-year-old woman who accused Reyes of sexually assaulting her when she was a child.

The woman explained 10 years ago when she was 9-years-old, Reyes, who was a man known to her, allegedly sexually assaulted her at a Talo’fo’fo residence.

The woman said she was asleep in her room when she woke up to Reyes allegedly touching her stomach. She then felt Reyes touch her underneath her underwear, and he sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.

2nd accuser

About two weeks after the 19-year-old woman reported Reyes to police, another accuser, a 17-year-old girl, also reported Reyes sexually assaulted her seven years earlier.

The girl reported she remembered multiple incidents where Reyes sexually assaulted her, rubbed her inner thigh and grabbed her buttocks.

“The last incident that (minor) recalls happened when she was in the sixth grade. While (the minor) and the defendant were in a vehicle together, the defendant touched (the minor’s) inner thighs and vagina,” the complaint stated, while also adding the minor was emotional when recalling the incidents.

According to the complaint, Reyes had moved off-island and police were unable to arrest him until he returned to Guam this month.

Hearing

Reyes appeared for his first hearing since being charged on Monday afternoon.

In the hearing, despite the request by the Office of the Attorney General to commit Reyes on a $25,000 cash bail, Magistrate Judge Benjamin Sison Jr. allowed Reyes to be released.

Sison, however, indicated Reyes would be placed on house arrest.

Arrest

Last week, police issued a notice that Reyes was wanted for questioning related to sexual assault investigations.

A day after police issued the wanted flyer, Reyes self-surrendered on Nov. 18.

Detectives from the Domestic Assault Response Team had reason to believe Reyes had returned to the island after previously relocating “out of state” allegedly to avoid authorities, GPD stated in a press release.
