Man arrested for assaulting a woman

KOROR (Palau Horizon) – A 26-year-old man was arrested for assaulting and dragging a woman on the ground last weekend.


The man identified as Ken Iyekar was booked and confined for assault and battery.

Sgt. Michael Rafael said that Iyekar was arrested on November 23 at 3:13 am after an unidentified caller reported to police that a woman was being assaulted.

The victim was slapped on the face and was dragged on the ground.

The woman suffered scratches on her knees and bruises in the cheeks.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old man was also arrested for bothering his family at their residence in Meyuns, Saturday afternoon.

The juvenile was intoxicated and was armed with a knife when he challenged everyone in the family for a fight.

A 19-year-old man identified as Lopez Emiliano was also booked and confined for DUI, reckless driving and illegal consumption of alcohol.

Emiliano was pulled over for driving a vehicle on a high speed along T-Dock and when he lost control of the wheel, he rammed into a tree in front of Sea Horse restaurant in Meketii, Saturday afternoon.

Emiliano was brought to the hospital but he refused medical treatment so he was booked and confined for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Another motorist was pulled over and was booked and confined for DUI and reckless driving when her car hit another car causing another collision.

Lazey Rengum, 23, tried to escape from the apprehending officers and fled on foot towards the Track and Field but was captured later.

She was driving her car recklessly at the Palau Community College campus and hit collided to another car which also hit another car.

A minor was also picked up for illegal consumption of alcohol in front of Best Mart.

Phillip Meriang, 46; Ngoseklii Rechebeim 22; Sets Mongami; Kitalong Decherong, 24; Mathew Omengebar, 45; Charton Kenzy, 30; Joshua Sokau, 54 were also arrested for disturbing the peace anddrunk and disorderly conducts.

They were picked up for bothering the people and the establishments last weekend.
