Francis Remeliik was charged on May 28 with one count of trafficking of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.Remeliik appeared on June 16 with Chief Public Defender Garth Backe and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.Assistant Attorney General Michael Copeland appeared on behalf of the government.Remeliik was released from the custody after he posted a surety bond of $250.His plea trial setting conference was set for July 9.Remeliik was charged for trafficking one joint of marijuana on October 12, 2007 and possession of six and 160 joints of marijuana on October 17, 2007.The affidavit of the Bureau of Public Safety’s Drug Enforcement Section submitted to the Supreme Court stated that an anonymous caller called the Drug Enforcement Section and reported that Remeliik was selling marijuana joints at his work, at the Echo Paradise FM Radio Station located at Meyuns, Koror.The affidavit stated that on October 12, 2007, the Drug Enforcement Section contacted a confidential informant to purchase marijuana from Remeliik.The confidential informant and the defendant agreed to meet somewhere else later for the transaction where the confidential informant managed to purchase one joint of marijuana from Remeliik.A search warrant was issued on October 17 for Remeliik’s car. The authorities recovered $335, one plastic container containing six joints of marijuana weighing 4.9 grams and two zip-lock bags containing 160 joints weighing 131.5 grams from the defendant’s vehicle during the search operation.The affidavit stated that Remeliik admitted of smoking and selling marijuana.
