HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man was charged with vehicular negligence following a car crash that sent two people to the hospital.
On Sunday, officers with the Guam Police Department were dispatched to a traffic crash on Route 10 by Pacific Tyre in Mangilao. Police saw Bond Roger Sigrah standing near a damaged Kia Forte that was partially on the outer lane, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.
The damage was to the front bumper, which had fallen off, and the chassis was bent into the radiator, according to the complaint.
Sigrah, who appeared to have red, bloodshot, watery eyes, smelled of alcohol and had difficulty speaking, told officers he was driving before he rear-ended a Toyota Camry.
“The defendant denied consuming alcohol at first, but eventually recanted and confessed to consuming alcohol. The officer noted that the defendant was so impaired that it was unsafe to perform the (sobriety test),” the complaint stated.
As a result of the crash, two occupants of the Camry had to be taken to Guam Regional Medical City for injuries sustained in the crash.
According to the complaint, Sigrah was arrested and informed of the implied consent law and refused to be tested.
Sigrah was charged with vehicular negligence as a third-degree felony and driving while impaired as a misdemeanor. He faces a maximum of six years in prison if convicted of all counts, according to the Office of the Attorney General.
