MAN died while fishing for trochus

The victim identified as Kirino Semdiu was pronounced dead at the hospital. Acting Director and Acting Minister of Justice Xavier Ngirameong said that they are still investigating to determine the cause of death of the victim.Ngirameong said they don’t know yet whether the victim was drowned or suffered a heart attack while trochus fishing.Ngirameong said the incident was reported to the authorities on Monday, June 16 at 11:40 am.Semdiu was in the company of two friends when the incident happened, the Acting Minister of Justice said.The friends called him and looked for him when they couldn’t find him until they found him inside the reef and was already unconscious.Ngirameong said there was no signs of foul play.“The victim could have died of drowning or there’s a possibilities that he suffered a heart attack while fishing but we cannot finally say that it’s an accident, we’re still investigating it and we’re still waiting for the medical report,”he said.Ngirameong said that there were two Palauans and one Filipino who were reported drowned early this year.
