Man gets 3 years for meth trafficking

SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho has sentenced Jeff Cabrera Magofna, who pled guilty to trafficking of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), to six years imprisonment.

The first three years will be served day for day without the possibility of parole, probation, early release, work release or other similar programs while the remaining sentence is suspended but may be imposed in whole or in part for violation of law or Office of the Adult Probation rules, Judge Camacho said.

Magofna, 41, was also given credit for time served of 21 days.

He will be under supervised probation for a period of four years upon his release from imprisonment.

Judge Camacho  vacated the jury trial scheduled for Sept. 19, 2022.

Magofna was represented by court-appointed attorney Mark Scoggins while Assistant Attorney General Steven Kessel appeared for the government.

Magofna was initially charged with four counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, and two counts of conspiracy to commit trafficking of a controlled substance.

But the other charges against Magofna were dismissed after he signed a plea agreement.

His co-defendant, Joey Cabrera Duenas, 42, was charged with two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, and two counts of conspiracy to commit trafficking of a controlled substance.

The case against Duenas is still pending.
