Man in cop’s assault try denies charges

George Glenn Agustino appeared for arraignment and bail hearing and entered a not guilty plea to his malicious mischief, obstruction of justice and attempted assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charges.

He posted $100 surety bond and was released from custody.Agustino was arrested on May 20 after police found him hiding up a mountain Apple tree.He was charged after he broke the windshield of a police car on March 16.A court document stated that police responded to a report of disturbance in front of Mobil gas station in Topside on March 16 at 2:30 am.Police Officer Harvey Takeshi was doing a routine check of the area when he saw two men in front of a residence in Topside.Takeshi drove towards the men but Augustino threw a rock at the cop’s car breaking the windshield.Takeshi got out of the vehicle and chased the defendant.Augustino managed to escape into a small forest behind the residence.Takeshi drove towards Topside later and informed Lt. Peter Napoleon of the incident.Lt. Napoleon was on foot patrol when he came upon the defendant and his friend.The defendant and his friend run to the house and hide.However police manage to apprehend the defendant’s friend later when he came out of the house.The friend told police that it was Augustino who threw a rock at the police car.The defendant was found later hiding in a tree.
