Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong issued an order for temporary commitment for purpose of medical observation against Ngirturong Gorey Kingya.
Kingya who is now in custody in connection to the death of his grandmother Teruko Franz-Kingya, who was found dead on Sunday morning, was brought to the court on Tuesday for a temporary commitment for medical observation.Chief Justice Ngiraklsong order stated that Kingya is suffering from a “prosecutorial delusion.”The court document stated that Kingya “is a danger to the community unless he is confined, evaluated and treated.”The court stated that for Kingya’s welfare and for the public’s safety, he should be committed to Koror jail for medical evaluation.The court stated that the hospital does not have a secured place for Kingya at this time.Kingya will be under medical observation for 14 days.The Attorney General’s Office moved for an emergency hearing to determine if Kingya should be committed temporarily for observation.The court granted the government’s request.Kingya was picked up for questioning by police after his grandmother’s body was discovered inside her room at the family’s residence in Ngaremlengui.The victim was struck with a sharp object in the forehead and facial area.A thorough investigation is now going on.
