Francis Remeliik appeared for a change of plea hearing and through his counsel Chief Public Defender Garth Backe entered a guilty plea to count one trafficking of a controlled substance, marijuana.
Assistant Attorney General Michael Copeland in exchanged of the defendant’s plea, agreed to dismiss the two counts of possession of a controlled substance as charged in count two and count three of the information.Associate Justice Lourdes F. Materne accepted the defendant’s plea and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment all suspended.The defendant was placed on active probation for three years.Remeliik was ordered to pay a fine of $250 to be paid within one year.He shall be evaluated at the Bedochel clinic for substance abuse and to attend and complete the treatment programs.Remeliik was ordered to obey the laws and the orders of the court.The defendant was charged for selling marijuana at his work place on October 12, 2007.
