Man sentenced to 3 months for violating probation

CHIEF Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the NMI has revoked the probation of Mingjin Jin who was also sentenced to three months in prison for violating his release conditions.

In addition, Jin will serve two years of supervised release after he completes his sentence.

Jin was ordered by the judge to self-surrender to the CNMI Department of Corrections on Monday, March 7 at 9 a.m.

Jin, represented by court-appointed attorney Steven Pixley, admitted that he violated his probation conditions.

The federal court last year sentenced Jin to one year probation for presenting a fake driver’s license and fake vehicle registration during a traffic stop in 2019.

He was convicted of conspiracy to unlawfully produce an identification document.

Jin, whose term of probation was set to expire on May 27, 2022, was told not to operate a vehicle.

On Feb. 2, 2022, however, a probation officer saw Jin operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.

Jin also admitted that he had purchased the vehicle.

Jin, 58, entered the CNMI in 1991 as a garment worker, but lost his immigration status in 2019. His two minor sons were born on Saipan.
