Sgt. Michael Rafael said that the man was picked up for questioning when the officer recovered a cell phone which was reportedly stolen earlier in his possession.
Sgt. Rafael said that on Saturday at 12:50 am, police received a call that someone went to the Lens Apartment in Ngerbeched and took one cell phone without the owner’s consent.The victim managed to get the suspect’s vehicle’s plate number and gave it to the police.At 2:09 am, police spotted the vehicle at the Happy Fish Market and accosted the driver.The driver was picked up for questioning when police recovered the stolen cell phone in his possession.Meanwhile, burglary and theft incidents are on the rise again when several establishments and residences were burglarized this weekend.Sgt. Rafael said that Nishimatsu office and the Sure Save barracks in Meketii were burglarized.Rafael said that someone broke into the Nishimatsu office in Ngetmeduch, Koror and took chairs, water dispenser and other stuff.A former employee went to the said office on September 4 at 3 pm and discovered that several properties were missing.Four other burglaries and theft incidents were reported to the police on September 6.Police report indicated that someone went to the Sure Save barracks in Meketii and broke the padlock and entered the room of one of the employee and stole the victim’s belongings.The report stated that the victim’s things were scattered on the floor.Another barracks in Ngerbechedesau was also burglarized on Sunday night. The burglar took bush cutter, back pack, umbrella and frozen stocks.Someone also went to PC Dock at M-Dock and took a battery from one of the parked vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Health.A residence in Ngarchemai was also burglarized on Sunday and the suspect stole bicycle.A man also lost his wallet containing $180 cash, ID and cell phone when someone went to his barracks in Meketii and stole his belongings.
