ALVANDER Pua, 28, is wanted by police for beating up his girlfriend, Department of Public Safety spokesman Dre Pangelinan said.
On Sunday, Nov. 14, police received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence complaint in Garapan. Police units were dispatched and responded to the scene.
Officers met with the victim who, they said, had swollen eyes and dark bruising around both of them.
The officers also observed that the victim’s face was swollen, and had redness and scratches. In addition, her nose was swollen with both nostrils bleeding, and there was blood on her upper lip, and redness around her neck.
She told police that her boyfriend, Alvander Pua, assaulted her.
Medics arrived and transported the victim to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.
Pangelinan said Pua was not arrested because he had already fled the scene of the incident before police arrived.
A complaint and affidavit of probable cause in support of an arrest warrant were filed in court by the police, and was signed by Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan who ordered the arrest of Pua. His bail was set at $25,000.
Pua is charged with assault and battery, disturbing the peace, domestic violence, and strangulation.
“Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Criminal Bureau of Investigation at 664-9064 or 911. If [they] wish to remain anonymous they may call the CNMI Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272,” Pangelinan added.
