May 19 deadline for Law Day photo contest

FRIDAY, May 19 is the deadline for high school and middle school students to submit entries for the Third Annual Law Day Photo contest held by the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands.

This year’s contest theme is “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration.”

According to a media release, contestants are asked to create a photo that “focuses on rebuilding trust in our institutions, respect for one another, and our willingness to collaborate to address the challenges that face our nation.”

The photo entry must be the student’s own work and should be submitted with a short description explaining how the photo fits the contest theme. The description is limited to 150 words or less. The contest is open to all middle and high school students in  public and private schools.

The contest organizers will only accept one entry per student. Entries cannot be published in any previous medium and must be taken on or after May 1.

Photos may be a single image or a collage and can be in either color or black and white. Photos should be in either JPEG or PNG format and submitted to the entry link found on the District Court’s website. Students and parents must complete an online registration form prior to submitting. The contest closes on May 19 at 5 p.m.

First place prize is $75; second place prize is $50; third place prize is $30. Winners are announced at the end of this month.
