Mobil increases gas prices by 15 cents, diesel 10 cents

MORE than two months after the last fuel price rollback, Mobil Oil Marianas on Thursday increased its gasoline prices by 15 cents and diesel by 10 cents.

Mobil raised its regular gas price to $5.26 a gallon from $5.11 a gallon; its premium gas price to $5.71 a gallon from $5.56 a gallon; and diesel price to $5.53 a gallon from $5.43 a gallon.

Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.

Tinian Fuel Services has yet to increase its fuel prices. Its regular gas price on Thursday was still $6.89 a gallon while the cost of diesel remained at $7.34 a gallon.

On Rota, Calvo Enterprises has yet to increase its fuel prices. Its regular gasoline price was still $6.59 a gallon and diesel stayed at $9.52 a gallon.

Sharmaine Casquero, a beautician, said “everything” is affected by fuel price increases. Because of higher fuel prices, some people may reduce their spending on other items.

“Even beauty parlors are affected by a fuel price increase, in terms of sales,” she added.

According to Mint business news, “Oil prices rose again on July 19 as a result of tighter U.S. crude supplies and lower Russian oil exports along with expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will stop raising interest rates soon. Meanwhile, China’s top economic planner pledged earlier this week to roll out policies to ‘restore and expand’ consumption in the world’s second-largest economy, which could boost oil demand.”
