MOBIL Oil Marianas on Wednesday morning reduced its gasoline prices by 10 cents and diesel price by 25 cents.
Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.
Mobil’s regular gas price went down to $5.06 a gallon from $5.16 a gallon, the premium gas price is now $5.51 a gallon from $5.61 a gallon while the diesel price went down to $6.28 a gallon from $6.53 a gallon.
Calvo Enterprises on Rota had yet to implement Wednesday’s rollback, but its regular gas price went down to $6.64 a gallon from $6.74 a gallon as a result of the price rollback last month. The diesel price on Rota was still $10.07 a gallon.
Tinian Fuel Services had not implemented the latest rollback as of Wednesday. Its regular gas price was still $6.94 a gallon, and diesel still cost $8.44 a gallon.
On Saipan, Northern Marianas College student Christopher Pangelinan was buying gasoline for his truck at Mobil’s Chalan Kiya gas station when he found out about the price rollback. He said he was happy because “it’s a good thing and I can now do a lot more like go fishing and drive around.”
He was buying $40 worth of gasoline for his truck and lawn mower.
According to Reuters on Tuesday, oil prices “were hit by an abrupt reversal of sentiment last week, with investors selling at the fastest rate for four months, as the economic outlook worsened and fears eased that the G7 price cap on Russian crude would disrupt its exports.”
