KOROR (Island Times/Pacnews) — More than 3,000 children in Palau have been approved to receive the annual child-raising subsidy, according to Vice President and Minister of Health and Human Services Raynold Oilouch.

A total of 3,051 children were certified as eligible for the subsidy following the close of the 2025 application period, Oilouch confirmed.

“We’ve received information from the Ministry of Finance that they are preparing to disburse payments to the eligible children,” he said.

The subsidy, established under the Republic of Palau Public Law 11-11, was increased this year from $100 to $200 per child. With the new rate, the government expects to distribute approximately $610,000 in total.

The social assistance program aims to support families who meet specific income criteria. Parents must apply through the Ministry of Health and Human Services for each child to be certified as eligible for the annual benefit.
