Mother allegedly abused her children over boyfriend’s sexual assault arrest

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A mother was jailed on allegations that she endangered her children as “revenge” for having her boyfriend arrested.

A criminal complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam against Robynn Ngiraremiang stated her two children reported that she had been “acting erratically,” after her boyfriend was arrested.

“The defendant was mad at her because she had filed a sexual assault complaint against the defendant’s boyfriend,” the complaint said.

The children, both teenagers, appeared to be scared of their mother, the Guam Police Department reported.

“According to the minor children, the defendant would get drunk, act crazy, yell and call them names, throw and damage household items, and tell them to clean up the mess,” the complaint said.

The mother’s alleged behavior made one of the children lock herself in her room until Ngiraremiang would leave to work in the evenings.

On the day police were called, Ngiraremiang allegedly banged on the bedroom door of one of the children with a knife.

Police said they recovered a 13-inch knife from the defendant’s living room couch.

“He also observed liquid spilled on the hallway floor tiles, which (the victim) said was oil the defendant spilled there to get revenge,” the complaint said.

According to police, during an interview with Ngiraremiang, she allegedly admitted to the allegations.

“She was sitting in her living room at 2 p.m. thinking about her life, which had been difficult since her boyfriend had been arrested. While thinking, she exploded and went crazy,” the complaint said. “She knew she was scaring her children, but she was not in the right state of mind and could not control her emotions.”

Ngiraremiang was charged on Saturday with child abuse as a misdemeanor.
