GREEN Meadow School students from kindergarten to eighth grade on Monday showcased their talents in music, acting and dancing which they developed during their two-month summer camp.
GMS President Glenn Songcuan said the “day of music and theater” in the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 was the culmination of the school’s summer program.
The venue was filled with parents, relatives and guests who enjoyed the students’ performances, especially in “The Little Mermaid Jr.”
GMS Principal Milagros Songcuan said the students have learned to appreciate the arts by creatively expressing themselves.
The first half of the event showcased live performances of the students of GMS music teachers Maricel Javier and Russel Dequito. These included solo and duet vocal performances, piano playing and drum accompaniments.
The students then performed their version of the 1989 Disney movie, “The Little Mermaid Jr.,” which was directed by teacher Lorelisa Espiritu with the assistance of all class advisers. The students spent two months rehearsing for the play.
“Many of the stage and costume props were created by the performing students, GMS President Glenn Songcuan said. “Music, lighting and stage support were provided by the middle school students. It was a truly joyous event as the event hall was filled with songs and dancing.”
School Principal Mila Songcuan and teacher Lorelisa Espiritu thanked the many supporters who made the event possible.
“Green Meadow School will always find ways to celebrate the talents and skills of its students,” the GMS president said.
