New Associate Justice to take oath of office

Alexandra Foster will fill the post left vacant by former Associate Justice Larry Miller.

The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. at Courtroom 202 at Palau judiciary in Ngerulmud.President Remengesau appointed Foster as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Foster is from Washington D.C. and was recommended by the Judicial Nominating Commission headed by Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong.Foster is an assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and was educated at elite institutions.Foster received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.According to the Chief Justice’s Office, Foster received her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.The statement added that Foster’s experience as an attorney ranges from judicial clerkship to private practice to public service.It also said that Foster has also led prosecutions of the most serious crimes in the District of Columbia and began her legal career clerking for the District of Columbia Superior Court.After her judicial clerkship, Foster was a litigator at the Washington DC law firm of Zuckerman Spaeder.
