NEWLY elected Board of Education Chairman Gregory Pat Borja said he looks forward to meeting the challenge of bringing students “back to a life of normalcy.”
A long-time educator and an advocate for individuals with disabilities, Borja was elected as the new board chairman during the board’s regular meeting last week.
Tinian’s Antonio L. Borja was elected as the vice chairman while Maisie B. Tenorio was re-elected as treasurer/secretary.
In an email interview, Borja said he was thankful to his fellow board members for giving him the opportunity to lead the BOE as they work together on policies that address the educational success of students.
“I would like to thank our outgoing chair, Andrew Orsini, for his dedication and guidance this past year. I look forward to meeting the challenge of returning our students back to a life of normalcy as they strive to meet their goals within the Public School System, and to support our educators as they rise to meet the needs of our students,” Borja said.
His goal, he added, is “to do my best in serving our community along with my fellow board members.”
Borja said he “truly believes in our Public School System’s mission of educating lifelong learners to become citizens of a global society.”
He vowed “to hold PSS to our motto of Student First.”
