GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres last week signed House Local Bill 22-29 which re-appropriates $9,784.20 in developers’ tax collections and $1,161.75 from the casino license fee paid by Imperial Pacific International for the installation and repainting of crosswalks in Kagman.
Introduced by Precinct 5 Reps. Leila Staffler and Richard Lizama, H.B. 22-29, which is now Saipan Local Law 22-9, re-appropriates portions of monies previously allotted by three different local laws for various projects on Saipan.
The $9,784.20 was a portion of the $2.5 million in developers’ infrastructure tax collections allotted by S.L.L. 19-23 for the paving of roads in As Perdido, San Vicente and Afetnas, as well as the installation of a water distribution line in Obyan and the repair of drainage systems in various villages on Saipan.
The $1,149.20 and $12.55 came from the $1 million exclusive casino license fee allotted respectively by S.L.L. 19-19 and S.L.L. 20-9 for various Saipan projects, programs and activities.
The expenditure authority of S.L.L. 22-9 is the Department of Public Works secretary or his designee.
