Parental support
The Parent Advisory Council, the group comprising all Parent Teacher Student Associations in all public schools issued the following statement:
“As we open SY 22-23, we want to extend our sincere gratitude to the entire PSS Leaders, Administration, Principals, VPs, teachers and staff for their commitment to our children and families. We are fully aware of the challenges it comes with and the sacrifices it takes to ensure that 13,000 children from diverse background are supported and embraced as well as their families. Un Dangkulo na Si Yu’us Ma’ase!
“With that, we want to welcome back all our beautiful and amazing children to one of the pride and joy of the CNMI, our Public School System. It’s been tough for the last two years. But our schools never stopped teaching; they never gave up on the value of education despite the extreme discomfort of transitioning to online or delivering of packets to many homes. They gave their best because you all deserve the best. That is just one huge example of why we should all be proud of our schools. Therefore, we are ecstatic and grateful for this school year and school years to come. The services and opportunities available to be able to reach your full potential and prepare for the future that awaits you are abundant. The support, resources and opportunities are from the tip of your fingers to the walls of your school such as Distance Education classes, Social Emotional support, career pathways and much more. There are also partnering agencies that work alongside PSS to bring opportunities to you. That’s how important you all are. You are given the tools to be whatever you want to be in your future. So make the most of your time in school and be as productive and engaged, learn as much and enjoy every bit of it. We believe in you and we continue to root for you.
“Parents, grandparents and guardians, we are delighted to be working with you this year. We ask that we continue to work together for the future of our children. Your ideas, concerns, solutions are all important to maintain an effective education system. We also kindly ask for your continued patience and support regarding some changes that may take place to address safety and ensure a conducive learning environment for our children such as the rezoning. We are confident that [the Office of Pupil Transportation] will determine what is best to meet the demands of our student population. Your understanding is greatly appreciated. We want to thank you for your support to the council and PSS. Un Dangkulo na Si Yu’us Ma’ase!”
